Dad was a Cowboy - 1917 & 1921
Dad and his horse, Roy, worked at two locations in eastern Montana:
1. In 1917 and 1921 he worked for George Sandall - near Broadus, on the Powder River
It was while here, in 1917, that he registered for the military draft for World War I
2. In 1922 and 1923 he worked for Herb Butka - near Enid, on Hwy 200 west of Sidney (See "Cowboy - 1922 & 1923")

Branding time: Dad, right, is 'stabilizing' the cow by pulling its tail while pushing with his boot.
The other cowboy has his boot on the cow's neck while applying the branding iron.
The 'chaps' are made by peeling the hides off a pair of sheep.

Girl cares for cowboy, ignores horse. Cowboy may be the same with branding iron, above.
