Montana Tour - 1957
Dad, Mom, and Norman took the 1946 Chrysler on a grand tour of Montana in late June and early July.
They visited many relatives and neighbors at Kalispell, Poplar, Brockton, Sidney, Circle, Crane, Miles City, and Bigfork.
At every stop: “We have to be home by July 6th. First grandchild due on the 7th.”

Picnic at Strawberry Hill - east of Miles City
Uncle Hank let Norman drive his prized Model "T" project around several blocks of Miles City. It returned undamaged.

July 5th at the tree farm cabin
They stayed at the tree farm cabin on the last night, then visited the Halverson’s the next morning,
where one of us made a fool of herself. Hardly a word was spoken all the way home.

Summer at San Rafael Street:
Donald & Ruth sold their house on 112th in anticipation of moving to Oregon State College at Corvallis the following year.
First grandchild, Carol, was born July 9th.
David bought his first new car, a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500.
Norman spent a week at Boy Scout summer camp at Camp Meriwether.
Dad removed the original garage from the back of the house,
then added 8 feet to the first floor across the back, plus a new bedroom.
David rented a houseboat at 138th & Marine Drive, and offered water skiing lessons.
The truck, tractor, and tools were back in storage at the Halverson’s.
The chainsaw never dropped another tree.
