The Tree Farm at the End of the Road is ‘Discovered’ - 1964
Probably in recognition of the increased value of the property created by the direct highway accessibility,
a purchase offer for the farm property was made to Dad.
The tree farm was sold. Buyer and price unknown.

14 Years - 1972
Norman visited the tree farm property on Labor Day 1972, after a 14 year absence.
The cabin was standing and intact, except for one broken window pane.
The well was filled in, probably caved-in, then topped off with some of the original excavated gravel pile.
The top of the fill was concave, apparently still settling.
The west wall of the garage had collapsed, with the the rest of the structure leaning about 45°.

Norman located Mr. Halverson's new home at Bigfork, on the north side of the river, near the dam.
He was not at home, possibly because of Labor Day.

Cabin Gone - 1992
Some of the family visited the property on the way to a Goss family reunion at Sidney.
The cabin had been dismantled and removed. The firtex siding was piled out on the truck trail.
A few pieces of the curved trusses of the garage roof, from the original cabin roof, were found laying in the brush.

One of Dad's "candelabra" Christmas tree cuts, about 40 Christmases later.
A tree was cut, leaving 2 or 3 lowest branches, which would turn vertical and become more trees in a few years.

A Pipe and Some Bullet Holes - 2010
Norman explored the property on the way to a family visit at Glacier Park.
The pile of firtex siding was gone. He retrieved a hand-washing basin, which had been used in both of the cabins.
A few bullet holes had been added, rusted through.

The ‘ground’ pipe for David’s crystal set (radio),
installed during his visit there after he hitchhiked from Ft. Huachuca, AZ
on his discharge from the Army Signal Corps (1956),
was still securely in the ground in 2010, next to the forked tree, the only piece of the cabin still in place.

The ‘fork’ of the tree has dropped, lying nearly parallel to the west wall of the cabin - Aug 2010
The pipe still has the two turns of the ground wire at the top
